Active Release Technique

ART is used to treat overuse and repetitive strain injuries of the soft tissues throughout the body.

What is Active Release Technique (ART)?

When an injury occurs, the result is inflammation, scar tissue and adhesions that can affect muscle, fascia, tendon, ligament and nerve tissues. The result is a structure(s) which loses its elasticity and does not move the way it should, resulting in pain, tightness, and weakness. If a nerve is involved you may feel tingling and/or numbness.

ART is a soft tissue treatment system whereby the therapist uses his or her hands to locate the area(s) of scar tissue, and then apply tension to the scar tissue while the involved structure is taken through a specific movement to lengthen it, helping the tissues return to their normal state.
